AFGE Local 252 represents the dedicated public servants who carry out the mission of the U.S. Department of Education. As our members face unprecedented challenges to their jobs, workplace rights, and collective bargaining protections, defending those rights requires resources.
The AFGE Local 252 Legal Defense Fund helps ensure our union has the financial capacity to fight for our members when it matters most.
What the Fund Supports
The Legal Defense Fund provides dedicated resources to support the Local’s legal and representational work, including costs associated with grievances, arbitrations, litigation, and other actions necessary to enforce our collective bargaining agreement and protect the rights of bargaining unit employees.
These resources strengthen our ability to respond when members’ rights are violated, challenge unlawful or improper actions, and pursue cases that affect not only individual employees, but our bargaining unit as a whole.
Why It Matters
Enforcing our rights isn’t free.
Arbitration fees, legal representation, expert assistance, filing costs, and other expenses can add up quickly – particularly during a period when federal workers and their unions are facing extraordinary challenges.
A strong Legal Defense Fund means Local 252 can make decisions about when and how to fight based on what our members and our mission require – not simply what we can afford.
